Looking forward to the new semester? Finding it hard to find something to do? Well fret no more, because the 8th PESS Committee would like to welcome the newly formed NIE Soccer Club (NSC), under its sports wing. Recently formed by a group of soccer enthusiasts from the NIE general population, the NSC hopes to reach out to all soccer enthusiasts in NIE, not only from PESS, but from the general population as well.
Read on to what the NSC is all about. Don't forget to check out their website as well at http://www.niesoccerclub.blogspot.com/
A word from the NSC President Imrain Hussain Shah,
"NSC officially stands for NIE Soccer Club which was formally opened and formed by a group of enthusiastic and passionate student teachers who love the game of soccer. The club consists of three wings. The first wing is the executive wing. The second is the competitive wing and lastly, the third wing is the recreational wing. Although NSC is formed as a largely recreational club for leisure playing of arguably the world’s most popular sport, soccer, the essence of the club is based on the model of a professional running of a soccer club. This means that the club comprises of a robust and dynamic executive committee formed with a president as the head of the club and an elite team of directors to assist in the running of the club, the club can and indeed further branch out into two wings for two distinct levels of soccer. Soccer played at leisure which ties in with the club motto, Soccer for everyone, is aimed at raising awareness of the sport as well as giving everybody a chance to play the game that any individual has a passion for. This gives them the avenue to express themselves which many do not get a chance within their lifetime to do so at different types of soccer available, playing on a field, court or beach. While many do play the game at their own pace and pleasure, NSC does provide another avenue for those who feel that they best express themselves by playing at a top level. Hence, the forming of the competitive team is aimed at building a NIE soccer team for both the men and the women of the institute to give them a chance to challenge themselves to compete at a higher level of soccer. If you could just put away the books and the lecture notes, there is only one thing that NSC wants to say to all student teachers is…. ARE YOU GAME ENOUGH?"
